Full-time Veterinary Receptionist

We are looking for a customer facing receptionist, who loves animals; to join our independent, busy and growing veterinary practice.

We are a COVID-secure clinic, with no face to face contact with clients.

You must have a strong background in customer service, experience in the hospitality or private medical industry would be extremely beneficial. You should have a pass in English at GCSE and have a good grasp of spelling and grammar.

You will look after front of house, booking appointments and dealing with customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.

You must have a confident and friendly telephone manner, and be comfortable answering the phone and dealing with client enquiries.

You will have a great attention to detail, enjoy dealing with customers and their pets, have a friendly and confident persona, and take pride in delivering a first class customer experience.

You will have clearly defined administration duties as part of your role, such as data entry, filing, and scanning documents

You will be responsible for maintaining the appearance of the reception area.

You will also have some clinical duties, involving re-stocking of the consumables in the consultation rooms.

You will be required to use our windows-type database, full training will be given.

We will help you to become familiar with veterinary terminology if you are not already.

You should be confident and comfortable being around animals including dogs, cats and small pets such as rabbits. At times, you may be required to help carry or hold an animal, and you may be required to help if there is an emergency requiring all staff to attend.

Full animal handling training will be given, but you should be comfortable with the sight of  injured or sick animals, needles, blood, animal urine, vomit and faeces. You should also be comfortable discussing euthanasia, seeing a patient after a euthanasia, and speaking to and consoling our clients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to return to work or move into the veterinary industry; equally this is a great opportunity for someone looking for a role with a significant level of responsibility, and with real prospects for career progression to a supervisory level in the future.

This is not a work-from-home position, however, we are a COVID-secure building.

We would be happy to split the role between two part-time candidates, the hours required are 8.30-5.30/9.30-6.30, 5-days a week, on a rolling 2 week rota.

If you are interested, please send an up to date CV, and a cover letter explaining why you feel the role would suit you to Mati Skerrett, our practice manager:
